If I could, I would spend all nights in the fog. Until, of course, I see someone with a hook.

The Second April 2007 RAW Prize Winner

Posted in Online by Bes on Apr 10, 2007

It is Tuesday, April 10th. That means today I have to select the 2nd winner for the Reader Appreciation Week.

Jerine the 2nd RAW April 2007 winnerI would like to announce that Jerine is the winner for today’s Reader Appreciation Week giveaway! The random number for today was 7, which means Jerine is the second winner for Tuesday, April 9th, 2007! Congratulations Jerine!

Jerine, you probably already know you won the prize!

Actually, Jerine, you are on my MSN contact list, so I will also let you know there. Jerine is a regular commentor on my site, and she runs her own blog at This is The Mad Style. :)

This shows you that you can also win something if you know me, and you do not need to have posted only one comment in order to win, as yesterday’s announcement might have suggested. Also, since Jerine is already in contact with me, I doubt I will have to find a replacement winner for today, unlike yesterday for which I had to, unfortunately, find a replacement winner today.

How you can participate for the rest of the week

As I said in my previous posts, if you commented even once or e-mail me to add you to the numbering list, you are automatically entered. :)

Please let me know if you have any comments or questions. Thank you.

  1. Vera :

Ooh! That sounds great and a very nice idea! =] I wonder what number I am on that list lol ;)!

[Oh my! This is a very nice plugin you got in editing your comments, will you tell me what plugin this is called? Cool, it doesn't have a time limit like the usual ones! :D!]

  2. inspirationbit :

it does have a time limit, but I guess Bes set it to be long.
I’ll let Bes to give you the plugin details, since he’s the owner of this blog :-)

  3. Bes :

Vera, thanks for the comment! :) Yes, you are entered into the contest automatically. :D

Also, regarding your question about the time limit and the plugin details, this plugin is called WP Ajax Edit Comments and was written by Ronald from Ronalfy for the Reader Appreciation Project site that he and I are managing and running.

Also, as Vivien [inspirationbit] mentioned, the time is a bit long: 60 minutes. Thus, after you post a comment, you can edit it for up to 1 hour. Please let me know if I should increase this time. Also, you can email me anytime and I can change your comment for you too. :)

inspirationbit, thanks! :) The comment editing time is 60 minutes. Do you think that is enough? :)

  4. Ronalfy :

    Bes,

You’re fairly reasonable (pun intended). There are some people that have the time set to 2 minutes. I personally leave it at the default 30 on my site and on RA Project.

For busy sites, it would make sense to limit the editing to just a few minutes so as to not hinder the discussion.

  5. Bes :

Ronalfy, lol. I think 30 minutes is good too, as people can check their comments right away and edit them instantly and simply move on. I chose 60 minutes simply to allow people to edit their comments as much as possible within an hour.

I agree with the busy site theory; limiting the editing to a few minutes allows people to carry on a conversation without having a comment, something someone else may have based their comment upon, vanishing and destroying the flow of a reading session [by a reader].

Do you think 60 minutes is too long, Ronald?

  6. Vera :

Ooh I see, is it available for download? :D! Thanks guys! =)
Like Ronald said, I personally think 60 minutes is more than enough lol, try making it 45 =D!

  7. Bes :

Hi Vera. :) Yes, it is available for download on the RA Project site. Just click the WP Ajax Edit Comments Plugin link and the instructions are there. Please let me or Ronald know if you have any questions on how to install it and stuff. We will be more than happy to help! I know Ronald if “way” more than happy; he is already helping all the other plugin users and testers way more than me on the RA Project site already. :)

Please leave a comment below, thank you. You will be able to edit your posted comment for up to one hour (60 minutes).
