If you are looking for a festive holiday to take in the years to come, you might like to visit the home of A Christmas Carol. The United Kingdom really knows how to get into the Christmas spirit during the holidays. Here are just four cities that would be worth your visit on the island.
London
London puts a lot of effort into Christmas festivities. Not only is the countdown to the New Year a massive occasion down by the London Eye, the city lights up for the holidays. You could stay in with a bottle of wine and partycasino.com, but you could also go outside and see the shining lights along the Embankment, the giant Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square, the Christmas Market in Hyde Park etc. The city literally shimmers in anticipation.
Bath
For those who are visiting the West Country, the city of Bath is arguably the most picturesque in the whole of England. And it’s even prettier at Christmas. Thousands of tourists flock to the centre in December for the famed Christmas Market, and excitement only builds from there. The night the Christmas lights are turned on is a massive occasion with a different celebrity doing the honours every year. Overlook the city from the top of the hill to get in the festive mood.
Rochester
As the resting place of the legendary Charles Dickens, it’s enchanting to visit the place which meant so much to the author of the classic A Christmas Carol. The city celebrates Christmas in his honour every year. Performers walk the streets, pantomimes are performed, and artificial snow sets the mood. You’ll feel transported back 200 years to the world the author knew.
Edinburgh
No one does Christmas cheer in the UK like the city of Edinburgh. Lights shine and glitter over the thousands who flock there to shop. View the city in all its glory from the Edinburgh Eye, or take to the outdoor ice rink. Come rain, blistering winds or sunshine, nothing can dampen the Christmas cheer in Edinburgh.
