If I could, I would spend all nights in the fog. Until, of course, I see someone with a hook.

The concept of being considerate to others06.06.07

Here, I would like to talk about the concept of being considerate “to” others, and not just being considerate “of” others. The idea is to not only coexist with people with different views, but to actually appreciate them and implement them and their differing views, and the concept of them doing anything they want differently than us, into our own ways of thinking and life.

I was driving on an almost empty freeway today when I noticed a very slow driver in one of the middle lanes, the same lane I was in. Even though I was within the speed limit, it seemed that I either had to change lanes to get ahead, or simply slow down. A thought came to my mind “Aaah, slow driver, move!” and then I realized: I was not being considerate of this very driver! The freeway was empty, I did not own any rights to this lane, and I could simply overtake this person if I wanted to. However, instead of doing that, I had felt as if this person driving slow in one of the middle lance was an annoying thing I had experienced. In my view, that was being inconsiderate to that other driver, who probably simply wanted to drive slowly, and safely, on a rare day when the freeway was not crowded at all.

I wonder how many times we may feel online that someone or something is annoying us, but in reality, we are just being inconsiderate. Why is it that many different views like cultures, religions, political views, and even online views on things like blogging, dictate or advice us to do something specific, but rarely, or never, tell us that we should be accommodating and considerate to others and conflicting views also.

10 signs you are a naïve blogger06.04.07

Everyday, many bloggers are making a lot of mistakes when it comes to blogging. However, these bloggers keep making such mistakes on a regular basis, while feeling proud, because they notice many other famous bloggers doing the same thing. Because of such mistakes, many bloggers tend to be naïve in the world of blogging, since they do not understand the concept of blogging, and the impact their blogging has on their blogs and the blogosphere. Making money through a blog does not guarantee that one is a professional or a mature blogger, so I believe it can be good for us to realize certain things that may make us naïve in our blogging efforts.

Following is a list of 10 signs of naïve bloggers that Ronald helped me create. These signs can be present in many people and do not guarantee that someone is naïve. However, if any of these points are the main focus of a blogger, or the focus of their obsession, then chances at that the blogger in question is more of a naïve blogger instead of a useful blogger, for the blog readers.

5 Ways To Be Professional Anywhere06.01.07

I run into different kinds of people everyday, and I notice that almost everyone acts a little bit unique in different situations. While many people try to be nice to others, it seems that they also try to be professional in different areas of life. Many people think that being professional requires one to be in a business situation or be in a situation related to making money. In my view, professionalism has nothing to do with the workplace. In fact, being professional means you act sensible and responsible in every situation, both business and non-business.

I would like to present to you 5 of the many simple ways to be professional anywhere, whether it is your personal blog, to your neighbors, or even during arguments. I think this list will help more of us realize how professionalism can be applied to many parts of our life, and not just business or work.

Thoughts: On hiding the fact that you blog just for money05.09.07

Many A-list bloggers say that in order to have a successful blog, you need to tackle a unique niche. What these A-list bloggers usually do not say is that the idea of being successful is relative. Many times, people blog just to make money, since those people consider income as a way to measure success. While it is not bad to make money through a blog, it is very weird to not acknowledge that fact, and to instead tell everyone that you blog for any reason other than to make money.

Thoughts: On Blogger’s Maturity Level05.07.07

I interact with different bloggers on a daily basis. Many bloggers are nice, while some do not know how to interact normally. While many bloggers are gaining popularity because of making money, I have noticed that many of the so-called “A-list” bloggers are really “F-list” bloggers when it comes to maturity. That makes me wonder about the maturity level of bloggers. How do you measure a blogger’s maturity level? Is it an important thing to consider with dealing with blogs and bloggers?

Jumping to premature conclusions over Vizu Blog Readership Report03.12.07

I saw a “Blog Readership Report” [PDF file] by Vizu circulating the web last week that shared the results of a research that observed how blog readers acted around different blogs. While the study was a good way to find out more about human behavior on blogs and I recommend similar studies in the future, I caution against jumping to conclusions without understanding how to read such reports. Many bloggers consider the study as being the definitive proof that everyone online acts the same way as the majority of the people in that study did. I cannot think of a more premature reaction to such a survey.

Magazines in a typical hospital waiting room08.28.06

Here I am, sitting in the waiting room. This room looks exactly like every other waiting room in any other hospital. There are a few chairs, several magazines, and a small window through which one can talk to the nurses and staff. This room has a coffee machine also, though. That’s weird; why would a patient need to drink coffee before they see a doctor? I’ve never seen a coffee machine in a Gynecology doctors’ waiting room before. Doesn’t matter, as I’m not going to have coffee anyhow. What the heck am I doing here? I don’t know, though I know I’m stuck for a while. That’s ok, let’s read some magazines.
