Gone MacBook Gone10.24.07

If Ronald ever needed the help of the blogosphere, this is it. On October 23th, 2007, between 0700 and 1100 Central Standard Time, Ronald, from Ronalfy, lost his one and only child, the Apple MacBook Pro. Someone broke into his house and took the laptop child. Ronald is offering a $500 reward to anyone who can find his laptop undamaged and return it to Ronald, or help Ronald so that he can actually recover it and without any damages.

Ronalds’ cat was acting strange after the incident, indicating that the kidnappers of the laptop child had a struggle with the cat who probably tried to stop them. Or maybe laptop child screamed “Help help my love! We love each other when Ronald’s not around, so help me because these people are taking me away!” while the cat ran for cover and probably said “Screw you! I value life and sissiness!” and hid in the bathroom. When the cat probably came back out, the coast was clear, and the laptop child was missing.

1 month old baby laptop kidnapped! OH THE @#$%^&* HORROR!

My Response to My MyBiggestComplaint Complaint and Assumptions06.16.07

This post was actually intended as a comment response to my Peeve Week 2 post, “Mixing Spam and Invitation Perceptions Together” on Ronald’s site. Since it is turning into a discussion, Ronald is going to turn off comments on that original post, and the conversation can be carried on here.

Therefore, anytime I say something like “my comment above” or “my post above” or something similar, I am referring to my original post and comment, and other comments, on Ronald’s site. If you have no idea what I am talking about, and would like to know, please head on and read “Mixing Spam and Invitation Perceptions Together“, as that will hopefully explain everything about the context of this e-mail. Thank you. :)

Hi “not george“,

First of all, Thanks for the comment. Ayya, this is going to be another long comment, which is definitely not good. I am hungry again, and I really need to write this quickly. It seems that the biggest issue here is the way a debate is carried on; I am trying to carry the argument using the logical points from my original post which are still valid as of now. My post was about showing how assumptions and perceptions about things can be different online, and hard to judge, and how peeves about online assumptions can be done in a peeve week project. You and George are focusing on how me thinking and assuming negatively about something that I consider part of a bulk mailing is not good, and that I should be not voice any concern, even through doubts and doubting my own self publicly, about anything and everything that comes through my contact form [even though the admins at MyBiggestComplaint have said and admitted that they did e-mail the same thing to multiple people].

RCP - When the Online and Offline World Collide05.21.07

This is the 2nd Reader Contributed Post, RCP, by Ronald. Here Ronald talks about how success is relative, and how success in both the online and offline worlds can be so similar that they might actually cross paths, resulting in you having to decide which world to succeed in. If you would like to be a guest writer on The Reasoner, please contact me.

I hear the sound of someone calling me on Skype. I look at my clock. It reads 1am. I sigh, and ignore the call and lift the covers over my head.

I hear the sound of someone coming online. I again look at the clock. 1:59am. I shift in my bed and adjust my pillow. I again lay back down and drift back into sleep.

It’s now 5:15am, and my computer alarm clock is going off. In a sleepish daze, I turn off the alarm clock and head to fix my morning cereal. I find my glasses and sit down at my computer chair.

I check stats, browse through my feed reader, and respond to comments. Then I get ready for work.

A Collision Course

RCP - Series - 11th Sign You are a Moody $%^#!@ - You are the Squirrel Bes Almost Ran Over05.02.07

This is a Reader Contributed Post, RCP, by Ronald, from Ronalfy, in response to my Guest Blogging post. Ronald here shows the different ways you can respond to multiple posts and come up with something funny through well written sentences, creative imagination and a passion for communicating a certain idea or a feeling. In addition to the posts mentioned by Ronald below, my series on moodiness was also used by him to come up with the title of this post. If you would like to contribute as a guest writer, please contact me.

After Bes wrote about his encounter with a squirrel, I decided to do a little investigating on my own. I found out the squirrel’s name is Chester and that he has filed a lawsuit against Bes for negligence and post traumatic stress.

I was able to catch up with Chester and was able to get him to agree to an interview on Skype with Bes Zain. Below is the transcript of the interview.

Meme - 5 Things I Enjoy About Blogging04.27.07

Last week I got tagged for a “Why do you blog” meme by Jonathan. This was a bit similar to “The Goal Meme” for which I was tagged by Carolyn. Because of the similarity, I decided to take the approach that Jonathan took on his site and list a few things that I find enjoyable about blogging. You can also read my introductory post on what memes are, by the way.

Run polls and ask for comments only when you are listening03.07.07

Polls and comments are good ways to find out opinions of your site readers. I myself look forward to comments from you, and I have also started running polls on this site. While it is nice to know what other people think, you should realize that when you ask someone for their opinion, you have to respect that opinion, whether or not the opinion goes along with your beliefs. On your blog, you should treat every vote in your polls and every comment on your blog with utmost care. Otherwise, you are simply asking for opinions without actually caring.

Meme - 5 Reasons I blog03.03.07

Ronald tagged me with a meme called “5 Reasons I Blog.” I like this meme as it will hopefully help you more compared to other memes, since it can show you the reasons that bloggers think are the driving force behind their blogs. If you wish, you can also read my introductory article that explains what memes are.

Observing role models is better than mimicking them02.16.07

Many people consider successful people to be their role models. A role model is a person you usually look up to when you need guidance, advice or help. Online, many people look up to a few bloggers like ProBlogger and CopyBlogger in order to improve their own blogs. Many people also try to mimic everything these types of bloggers do in order to attain the same kind of success. Unfortunately, copying successful bloggers will never result in success. You need your own unique blogging personality and mentality, that you can apply tips and advice from your role models to, in order to be successful.

3 technological advancements that are somewhat still useless01.17.07

I have decided to participate in the January 15th Peeve Week project . This is my second post for that project.

Human beings have for a long time depended on tools to achieve goals faster. From cars to computers to watches and cell phones, we all use some tool that helps us do things more efficiently. With advancements in technology, however, more focus has been put in the last decade on adding glamor to things instead of improving those things. Here is my list of 3 small technological advancements that were intended to help people but at this time are simply not doing as much good as originally hyped by their respective industries.

The flow of offline discrimination onto the internet01.15.07

I have decided to participate in the January 15th Peeve Week project . This is my first post for that project.

A website is like a house. We usually know the house owner before we visit them. Online, however, we usually get to see a website first and then come to know the author. This is a good thing, for it allows us to break away from the chains of stereotypical discrimination and instead look at someone based on their achievements in the form of their website. Having such a mentality online helps us in real life also. However, just like in real life, we usually discriminate others without realizing it many times. If we can get used to not discriminating on the web, we will be hesitant before discriminating in real life. I will summarize below two forms of discrimination that exist in the real world and also online.
