If I could, I would spend all nights in the fog. Until, of course, I see someone with a hook.

Free hosting08.16.05

This is the hosting area of my site. I have been blogging for several years, and I know how frustrating it can be to get a good domain name, or a good host to call home. I am now offering free hosting to people who have a blog, a personal project, or something that they write about and need a home. If you need professional hosting with extra support and all the bells and whistles, try Infura.

You will get a subdomain, such as yourname.thereasoner.com.

Regarding the space, I will share as much as I can, and hopefuly as much as you need.

There aren’t many rules, really. To fulfil the obligation of having some rules, here are some of the ones that can never be broken:

  • No adult or porn sites, period.
  • No storing of unused files. This is an offer to host your site; hosting pics as a storage space to link to from an external site is prohibited.
  • I am not responsible for making backups. I will make weekly backups of everything, but please don’t expect me to have a backup ready in case you delete a file or something by accident
  • You must know what you’re doing; I cannot help you design and start a blog. I will get you started to move a site over here, but after that, you should be proficient enough in html and ftp so as you work on your site and update it yourself
  • You must have a web site at the moment, whether it is at a free server or at a paid server.
  • Your web site must not be generating enough revenue so as to support an entire server. If your web site is really famous, and/or is making a lot of money, then you should buy hosting through a host.
  • Your site must already be online somewhere, or archived through Google cache or something else so that I can see it.
  • You must work on your site at least once every 20 days.
  • You cannot used any script that causes server overload or introduces a security risk. If in doubt, ask.
  • There will be a 20 day trial period, where we can see if our deal is working out or not.

Simply email me, and we can get started. In the email, please let me know your name, your site address or a place to read it, why you want to be hosted here, and something about your site.

I used to host some sites back in 2001 and 2002. I got this idea again last year, but never got around to working on it. Then, I saw Vix’s so-complicated, and that made me create this area.

50 Gmail invites available12.20.04

I have 50 Gmail invites available to those who need it. Please contact me, or leave a comment with your name and a valid email address to send the invite to.

[Update] June 21st, 2005 - 3:06 pm

Please note that I need your email address to send the invitations. I get several emails sent through the website almost every day requesting a gmail invitation, and most of them have invalid or no email addresses in them. Without an email address, I am unable to send a gmail invitation. Thank you.

[/Update]

[Update] August 20th, 2005 - 9:23 am

I have given about 73 Gmail invites so far. The last one I gave was yesterday, and now my Gmail counter is showing the number of Gmail invited to be 49. Usually, the counter went back to 50 repeatedly, and I could send more invites, and then after a few hours, the counter always showed 50 remaining invites. Now, it’s not changing. So here’s your chance to get a Gmail invite while it’s still available, or until Gmail opens to everyone.

Post a comment below with a working email address to get your free invite.

[Update] August 24th, 2005 - 12:01 pm

Google is offering free invitation codes itself if you have a cell phone. Get a text message with your free code over at Gmail.

[Update] February 9th, 2007 - 10: am

Google has opened up Gmail for people in many countries. You can probably sign up directly without the need of an invite, and you can still request an invitation below if you wish.
