Gone MacBook Gone10.24.07

If Ronald ever needed the help of the blogosphere, this is it. On October 23th, 2007, between 0700 and 1100 Central Standard Time, Ronald, from Ronalfy, lost his one and only child, the Apple MacBook Pro. Someone broke into his house and took the laptop child. Ronald is offering a $500 reward to anyone who can find his laptop undamaged and return it to Ronald, or help Ronald so that he can actually recover it and without any damages.

Ronalds’ cat was acting strange after the incident, indicating that the kidnappers of the laptop child had a struggle with the cat who probably tried to stop them. Or maybe laptop child screamed “Help help my love! We love each other when Ronald’s not around, so help me because these people are taking me away!” while the cat ran for cover and probably said “Screw you! I value life and sissiness!” and hid in the bathroom. When the cat probably came back out, the coast was clear, and the laptop child was missing.

1 month old baby laptop kidnapped! OH THE @#$%^&* HORROR!

Helping someone today did not make me happy02.24.07

Help others“, I hear that often. People usually think that helping others is a good thing because one feels happy afterwards. I recently considered a mistake an investment by making someone happy, which involved helping a girl who gave me a haircut. I felt good being nice to that haircut girl. Today at a supermarket I helped someone who needed 50 cents to make a phone call. However, I did not feel happy about it. In fact, I almost felt nothing.

$37 tip for a $15 haircut: a mistake or an investment?02.05.07

I went to get a haircut today. The girl who gave me the haircut was a student who did haircuts to earn extra money. She was very nice and told me a lot about her personal life. In the end, the bill was $15 and I gave her what I thought were $23. She started thanking me aggressively, saying “You’re so nice! Thank you!” She wrote down the days she worked on her business card and handed it to me. She also told me that since I was new to the neighborhood, we could hang out sometime and she could show me around. I thought she really liked me, and was thus overjoyed at having me as a customer. I would soon find out something that would cast doubt into my theory of why she was so happy.

Show visitors that others use your website too01.27.07

I was waiting for a stop light to turn green yesterday and saw a car wash nearby. I noticed a car wash employee waving at me and pointing at the different cars that had just come out of the car wash. The cars looked beautiful because they were clean. This employee had just shown me how that car wash place could address my need to wash my car. It was a combination of simple and amazing marketing, telling me what I could get by showing me the results others were getting. That made me think of something: if a business can show a potential customer how other customers are benefitting from something, a website can also put emphasis on showing new visitors how other people are enjoying the site.
