If I could, I would spend all nights in the fog. Until, of course, I see someone with a hook.

Having more disagreeing friends than friends who agree with you can be better03.11.07

Many of us have them. Many of us want them. I am talking about friends. Usually, people consider others who agree with them a lot to be their good friends. In my view, we should have friends whether or not they agree with what we think. In fact, I would suggest having more friends who disagree with you than friends who agree with you on most things. Considering someone a good or trustworthy person simply because they agree with you a lot means you do not like people who have the strength to tell you that you may be wrong.

You are how you blog03.05.07

Many bloggers think that the “About” page is where blog readers can find out more details about a blogger. That is probably true. It is in my view the only place so far where I only talk about myself in order to let you know who or what “Bes Zain” is. Over the year, I have realized that another way to find out more about a blogger is to see how that blogger acts and behaves on their site. A blogger is how he or she blogs.

Thought: link posts share knowledge, not hide laziness03.04.07

I am seeing a trend where bloggers are starting to link post more than usual. Since such posts usually send users away to other websites instead of keeping them around, many people say that link posts are nothing more than excuses for not being able to come up with fresh and useful content. I have started to realize that when done effectively, link posts allows both bloggers and readers to find out different perspectives on issues that we usually take for granted. A link post is an excellent way to share knowledge by introducing different perspective on issues.

Thought: On treating all your blog readers equally03.01.07

I am seeing a continuing trend online where many bloggers, who say publicly that they cannot reply to all the e-mails and comments they get, do respond to all comments and e-mails they get by famous bloggers. Before gaining any significant traffic, these bloggers spent their early blogging days appreciating every comment they got as if it was gold. Later, as traffic increased and they got more blog readers, these bloggers started focusing on responding to comments made only by bloggers who talked about making a lot of money on their own blogs. It is as if the concept of appreciating the gold in every comment was overcome by the idea of worshiping those who had gold.

Find elements to reduce boredom due to blogging02.12.07

Blogging online is similar to any offline activity. Just like with daily activities, if you feel motivated and passionate about blogging, you can come up with a lot of things to do and talk about on your blog. When you do not feel the presence of any encouragement, whether internal or external, you tend to drift off and start treating blogging as something that is a necessity instead of something that you like doing. I recently came across a situation which made me realize how important it is to interact with other bloggers and blogs in order to add more interest in your daily blogging routine. Such an interaction can help reignite your interest in blogging if you feel bored about the whole concept of blogging.

Like any other task that one pursues, blogging should be enjoyed in order to get maximum benefits from it. A blogger should enjoy some aspect of blogging in order to have a successful blog. If you cannot find any aspect of blogging that makes you happy, you are forcing yourself to do something that will probably result in a failure. Whether it is to earn money or to stop blogging by blogging even more, you must have passion for something about blogging in order to be successful at blogging. Otherwise, your blogging efforts will be wasted in the long run. Successful blogging requires some kind of an enjoyable passion.
