John Mayer deleted his twitter account. What do you think?

As is the case with a lot of celebrities doing random, stupid or normal things and the media telling you to stop breathing and to pay full attention, John Mayer is now in the spotlight for deleting his Twitter account. His Twitter account had around 3.7 million followers and now John Mayer has instead moved on to a Tumblr account.

Publicists are telling you and others that John Mayer’s account existed solely to promote his new album and tour. The fascination of seeing someone relatively famous on Twitter or other social networks makes people assume that such a person loves technology or social media. People assumed that with John Mayer when he started tweeting. In reality, as now we know, many of such people, including John Mayer, go online solely to sell stuff, and not to actually interact.

While John Mayer’s deletion of Twitter account will be history in less than a week, it does bring to spotlight the reasons why people actually tweet online.

Planning Whether or Not to Advertise

Should you advertise on your blog?

Should you advertise on your blog?

If you are on Facebook, you may already realize what it means to get messages from strangers on it asking you to visit their sites. I get almost 20 or so messages on Facebook daily from different people asking me to visit their website, blog or to buy something from them. Majority of such sites seem to have advertisements slapped onto them without proper planning. Such sites exist solely to make money by writing a few things and expecting any surrounding ads to sell.

In today’s world, where blogs are created not by the minute but by the second, it’s hard to come up with a topic that a blog, or a site, should focus upon. Even harder is the task of making a plan as to whether the site in question will make money, or if it will simply provide content free of charge and with no advertisements whatsoever. Ads can help bloggers, though the readers may suffer and not visit an ad-ridden blog anymore.

Today I’m going to talk about making a simple, but important, plan of whether or not you should have any advertisements on your site.

10 Reasons People Hate You On Facebook

The Reasoner: 10 Reasons People Hate You On Facebook

Do People Hate You On Facebook?

Facebook is considered the most popular and widely used social networking site in today’s world. The closest competitors, Twitter and MySpace, both have already drawn a lot of criticism because of the annoying things people can do on those two networks. People get criticized a lot for tweeting too much on Twitter, and people get blocked on MySpace for having backgrounds that give other people seizures and vision problems. Facebook is no different when it comes to getting people hated for their annoying habits.

With anything that becomes popular with the mainstream communities comes the chance of a lifetime: make people hate you! Like email, Facebook can be used properly and Facebook can be abused in order to gain something. Some people abuse other Facebook users by spamming them with money-making program links and messages, while others abuse their contacts through inappropriate tags. In the end, you can easily annoy other people and make them hate you by doing some specific things.

So today, let us go through the Facebook journey of losing your face among your Facebook friends and contacts. You and I are going to explore the 10 reasons, or ways, you make people hate you on Facebook.

Thought: Are personal blogs the least manipulative kind of blogs when it comes to the idea of earning money?

This is a thought that was intended to be only a few lines long, and yet it has turned into an extensive article of some sort. Since personal thoughts are important and even a single thought can be expressed in a dozen books, I hope you do not mind the length of this article, as the message inside it is very dear to me. I appreciate your time reading this, if you decide to read it all. If not, I appreciate your time reading this very paragraph. Knowing someone has read even a single letter written by me on my site is a very interesting feeling.

This thought and endless variations of it have been on my mind since the beginning. I am noticing an increasing trend where an increasing number of bloggers are manipulating their readers in order to make money. More and more blogs are talking about making money in different ways, and more and more people are saying that their blog readers come first, when in reality all they are doing is saying things, without actually doing anything. In this article, when it comes to talking about the idea of manipulating, you can keep in mind that money is usually a big factor why people manipulate others. Also, you can keep in mind that by the the very words “writing” and “reading” and any of their variants, I am referring to all forms of creating thoughts and all forms of feeling those thoughts, including writing and reading, speaking and hearing, producing and feeling, touching, etc.

It is sad, yet not completely surprising that that original personal blogs, from the original days, which did and do nothing but talk about random things because they want to, are slowly disappearing. They are being replaced by blogs that exist in order to make money, and blogs that are highly influenced by the idea of money earned directly or indirectly through and because of those blogs. I wonder if the simplest of personal blogs are the least manipulative compared to other kinds of blogs.

Simplest personal blogs aim only to be heard – nothing else

Question: Do you want guest bloggers on your blog?

This question goes hand in hand with yesterday’s question. Would you be willing to have someone else guest blog on your own blog?

If you do not currently have a blog, in the future you may have a blog where you will have a choice of either having or not having guest bloggers.

You may or may not want to have guest blogs on your blog because of various reasons:

Why Non-Intrusive Ads give you more freedom to avoid ads

With so many shopping places to chose from, no wonder more and more companies are getting aggressive in placing their ads in different places. Because these ads are everywhere, people have started to avoid them. The companies have in turn become even more aggressive in their advertising techniques, which results in people who hate ads to run farther away. What the ad companies need to realize is that showing ads everywhere does not work, even if those ads are creative. Why? Because most ads are intrusive and waste people’s time. Non-intrusive ads are better at marketing a product or a service.

PeoplePC automatically disconnects

When I embarked on my recent short trip, I decided to get PeoplePC in order to access the internet when I didn’t have access to a cyber cafe or a computer lab. PeoplePC was and still is advertising cheaper dialup rates with no contracts. Signing up through their website was easy, taking less than 4 minutes. While PeoplePC tells everyone to download their software in order to use the service, I simply created a normal connection in windows and dialed right into PeoplePC using the username and password I had chosen. This way, I could avoid using their software and actually have a faster connection on some levels. However, every time I was surfing the internet using PeoplePC, the connection dropped automatically every 3 to 4 hours without any warning.

Beauty products advertising targeted at youth

I have been doing some research on advertising lately, and here is a short, general idea that I wanted to share. The current advertising targeted at teenagers aims to stay with them for the rest of their lives. If you root for the young minds, you can root an idea deep enough for them to hold on to forever. This is not bad; marketing your product to young people is a good business for many. However, the issue of whether these ads are harmful to the young and still developing minds of the young ones lies in the heart of the content of the ads.
