Question: Do you prefer non-personal blogs over personal blogs?07.14.07

This can be a fun and also a very important question to ask yourself, whether you are a blogger or a blog reader. Do you prefer reading and writing non-personal blogs over personal blogs?

Many people think personal blogs offer not much value to the blogosphere, and I think while that may be true in case of many specific personal blogs, non-personal blogs are more prone to not offering any value, while creating an illusion of value. Thus, both personal and non-personal blogs can offer value, and can also waste time, energy and faith, depending on the perspective used to look at things.

In this question, I am asking specifically about the importance of non-personal blogs in your life, and comparing it to the importance of personal blogs in your life. To give you a better idea of personal blogs and non-personal blogs, here is one of the countless ways to look at both of them.

Personal Blogs Vs. Non-Personal Blogs

Thought: On blogs being regularly posted content06.22.07

The debate of what defines a blog will probably continue forever, the same way the debate about what constitutes good writing has been going on for a long time. One of the things that I am noticing on many sites, is that any kind of regularly posted and updated writing is being considered a blog, including advertisements hidden in the form of supposed unbiased advice.

If you post something on a regular schedule, whether it is 10 times a day or once every 10 days, it can be considered and shown off as a blog without much disagreement from many people. Even if I post less about personal life and more about blogs, many people will still call it a blog, regardless of what I think.

That makes me think if the very essence of a blog can be divided and based on a single element, or even a single sole element, like regularly posted content.

Misleading No Credit Card Required ads11.18.05

I keep seeing online and TV advertisements for America Online; sign up for free for 45 days, get free spam blocker, virus protection, and a dozen other features. These ads always say “No Credit Card Required” to sign up. I just turned on the TV to see if anything interesting was on, and saw the same ad on two different channels for two different companies, advertising the same trial offer of 45 days. Once was for America Online, and the other was for PeoplePC.

False advertising and brand names09.05.05

I see advertisements everywhere claiming to do things that nature cannot do for many people; make people lose weight, improve their eye sights, increase their heights, and elongate their life through certain foods. Billboards everywhere mention different products and how great they are.

Beauty products advertising targeted at youth10.27.04

I have been doing some research on advertising lately, and here is a short, general idea that I wanted to share. The current advertising targeted at teenagers aims to stay with them for the rest of their lives. If you root for the young minds, you can root an idea deep enough for them to hold on to forever. This is not bad; marketing your product to young people is a good business for many. However, the issue of whether these ads are harmful to the young and still developing minds of the young ones lies in the heart of the content of the ads.
