Preparing to Explore Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu one of the world’s most intriguing and unique places in the world. Set upon high cliffs in the Cusco region of Peru, Machu Picchu is a piece of ancient history still alive today. This small city originally built by the Incas in the 15th century, Machu Picchu is thought to have been home to the emperor of that time, Pachacuti. It’s historical value is insurmountable and the beauty of the land around it is stunning.

A visit to Machu Picchu will no doubt leave a lasting impression that you will keep with you for your entire life. Planning your visit to Machu Picchu? Worried that it might be a lot of work and hassle to figure everything out? No worries, let me help you with these few easy steps!

Book Your Flight

First thing first, book your flight! You can’t realistically drive there, so flying it is! Make sure you choose the flight that is right for you. You don’t want to get to Peru all grumpy because you took a 5am flight.

So choose the appropriate flight, whether you are a morning person or a night owl, there is a flight to accommodate everyone.

Flying is the best way to get anywhere! It’s quick and easy and allows you to visit amazing places like Machu Picchu!

Buy Your Machu Picchu Tickets Early

Machu Picchu

As of July of 2011, visitor restrictions have been placed upon Machu Picchu. Sadly not as many visitors can visit every day, due to increasing wear and tear of this ancient landmark. However, it is to protect and preserve Machu Picchu which is ultimately what needs to be done.

To make sure you don’t travel all the way to Peru and not get to see this glorious piece of history you want to make sure to purchase your ticket in advance. The best way to buy your tickets is through the Peru’s government official website.

You can pay online with a secured Visa card or make the reservations and pay once you are in Peru.

Book Hotel

Next you will want to book your hotel. Booking your hotel is very easy too. There are many hotels in the Cusco region, but there is only one hotel on the actual premises of Machu Picchu. The Sanctuary Lodge by Orient Express is the only hotel at the site of Machu Picchu.

It can range from $500 and up for a night, but to have that early morning sunrise overlooking Machu Picchu is well worth it. Needing something to fit more of a budget, there are many many more reasonably price hotels and motels to fit anyone’s price point.

Now that you’ve done all the pre-travel planning you just need to pack your bags and go! Machu Picchu is something you do not want to miss seeing. It is an awe-inspiring place and also an amazing adventure.

When you are relaxing on the plane, gearing up for the moment of a lifetime, you will be so happy you took the extra steps to plan the best trip ever! So do not hesitate a moment longer. Get started on planning your trip to Peru. Machu Picchu is waiting!
