Hi "Celebrities", thanks for sharing. After Hi5, which one is your favorite? For you, are there more contacts on Hi5 compared to other places? Even though Hi5 is older, I think it has gotten behind times a little bit. However, for me, the main thing is contacts, and I think slowly MySpace and Facebook are becoming the norm for a growing number of people.

Andson, thank you for coming and commenting. :)

May I ask what kind of services and products you advertise through MySpace? Are they to get clients like web design clients, or something else? In your view, is promotion through MySpace working out for you?

Thanks.

[Sorry for the delay in responses everyone.]

I do not use MySpace regularly, but if anyone wishes to add me on MySpace or add me on Facebook, please go ahead and send me a message too on those networks, letting me know who you are so I can add you. Thank you.

Andrew, thanks for the comment. I agree with the poor layout and the inconsistent placement of items on different profiles and pages. A lot of times, the site just does not load and keeps giving issues.

I use Facebook, and I also have a MySpace profile; I have edited my myspace profile to make it a bit easier to read and view. I get friend add request from all sorts of random people, and the "deny" button gets abused everyday by me.

Ashley, thanks for coming and commenting.

That is indeed a very good reason to use MySpace. Yes, I think I remember when LJ and others needed an invite.

MySpace is a very immature version of a social networking platform, in my view. People can customize their profiles, though no one has been told how to be considerate to someone else. For example, the different music songs and videos that load automatically on different MySpace profiles. It is very annoying.

Unless I am forgetting, I have yet to have Facebook give an error to me. MySpace has had a lot of time in the hands of its new multi-billion dollar owner, and the improvements so far have been very scanty. The main focus, or at least the main apparent focus of MySpace team has been to bring advertisors to the MySpace platform. We see ads shown to us in new ways; other than that, the service is still the same.

Valerie, heh. Facebook is also starting to get annoying on some levels, though it is much better than Facebook. I think I keep my MySpace account simply to keep in touch with people who do not want to be contacted through any other channel, and to find old friends too.

We need more competition, and more social networking sites. Maybe Vox and LJ can start getting into the same arena more.

LGR, thanks for commenting. It can indeed feel surprising that MySpace got to where it is. One of the reasons could be because it offered a way for all teenagers to feel cool, and majority of the teenagers wanted to pass on their display of cool-ness onto the web.

Do you use Facebook regularly?

Ash, thanks for the comment. Some bulletins can be very entertaining indeed. Browsing through profiles can indeed be very annoying, specially when many profiles are simply backdoors to porn sites that lure you in with anything you click on.

Do you have a MySpace profile, or do you only have facebook?

clara, thanks for the comment. Heh, that is a nice way to look at it.

What do you think of facebook? Also, what do you think of situations when one loses touch with a friend or two, and may want to see if they are on MySpace?

Marenda, thanks for the comment. What other social sites have you discovered or come across, besides Facebook?

One reason MySpace is still popular is because of the number of people on it. Facebook is slowly becoming more popular; however, MySpace still has way more people, and thus it can sometimes be easier to find someone on MySpace than on Facebook.

swollenpickles, thanks for the comment.

That is nice; what kind of music is it?

Do you think MySpace is better at exposing/advertising something than Facebook? One thing, at this moment, is for sure: MySpace allows an easier way to embed music into the profiles, though that can also cause annoyances as Ash said above.

Diana, thanks for the comment.

If I am reading correctly, in your view, MySpace is good for promotion, like swollenpickles said above you.

What do you think of the corporate and movie ads on MySpace? They get a lot of exposure, but do you like running into them?

Thanks everyone for the comments. I really appreciate it. :)

Personally I find it quite handy to send out messages to all of your friends, through bullitens, but browsing through profiles annoys the hell out of me. The music starts by itself, some profiles are so badly designed you can't navigate their page etc

I like myspace for one reason, which you already mentioned. It's easy to find people from your past - old friends, classmates, etc.

Besides that one good feature, the site is just horrible. I joined myspace in 2003, after a fun 2-year stint with Livejournal (remember when you needed an invite?) and was disappointed with the site from the beginning. It only got worse from there with all the spammers, annoying features, bugs, and overall sense of being back in high school again.

As far as the layout goes (it's most obvious flaw), it isn't just a matter of poor design - the entire site doesn't work half the time! For a site this popular, it is simply unforgivable.
