Amazon.com marketplace scam emails

Posted in Online by Bes on Jan 29, 2005

I have been getting scam emails targeted to Amazon sellers. Following is an email I got regarding an item I have put on Amazon.

This is the second email I have received with the exact same wording and the exact same sender [whose name is most probably bogus just like its content and intent to pay]. Both times the senders’ name was “Harry Davies.” The emails were different each time, “emeraldemporium@juno.com” & “dgrace@cashette.com” which are of course bogus accounts. If you are an Amazon.com seller, be cautious if you already aren’t; this person/bot may be sending the same worded email to thousands of sellers.

Dear Seller,
Am Harry Davies by name,I live in Garner,Iowa but am presently in Bangladesh for
2 weeks workshop while my manager called me from my company in Africa that we
need some items very urgently which your displayed items on this site happen to
be one of the items.I will like to know if you can ship this items to Africa.I
can be able to pay you through western union bid payment now just has the only
option left to me now in Bangladesh coz it is very difficult to transfer money
out of the country due to the several fraudulent activities.Lastly,I will be
picking up the items either by giving you my fedex # which you will take to any
fedex office/agent in your area and ask them to bill my fedex account or you
will give me the weight and dimension of the items immediately you have got
order approved from western union bidpay.I want you to promise me that you will
mail the items upon the confirmation from the western union which is the order
approved.I will need your name, address and phone number in order to make the
payment immediately. Please, understand this is very urgently which is why I
checked out this website.
Thanks.
