If you have seen 2 Fast 2 Furious, you may get a completely wrong impression of the original “The Fast and the Furious”. The original has Vin Diesel giving out a performance that adds character and depth to the whole movie. It is a story with the background of Vin Diesel as the main focus of Paul Walker, who is assigned as an under cover to bring Vin Diesel in. However, Paul notices that Vin is not just a criminal mastermind; he is also a family man with a lot of depth in his life and is not a bad person overall. The whole movie revolves around that, with some interesting surprises along the way.
Such a story line makes this movie a very good watch. When there is action, you will be surprised by all the stunts. When there is the dialogue, you will be kept plugged in to find out more and to see how everything ends. The movie is not simply a bad and good guy movie, and it does not end with the good guy getting everything. In fact, the bad guy is also the good guy, adding more twist to the movie and making sure that you yourself do not feel biased towards any side in the whole movie. The action sequences are very well coordinated, and there are no drag-on’s in the movie that are usually in movies of this type [which are in fact present all over 2 Fast 2 Furious] just to increase the length of the movie. To summarize this movie, I would say without Vin Diesel and the indirect focus on his character and his surroundings, this movie would have been a flop like the sequel [in my opinion, instead of a classy hit.
This movie is everything the sequel isn’t; a good story line which actually tells the viewers that there is a purpose to the movie. There are not over-acting actors in the movie; even Paul Walker acts decently and very well in the movie. The action sequences also show as to why they are warranted, and they aren’t like the action sequences in the sequel, which are just put there to add more interest to the movie and are not warranted at all. This movie can be considered a drama also; Vin Diesel’s character is too complex for Paul Walker to handle as a normal case and it creates problems for him, as he begins to respect Vin Diesel and starts to cover up for him, making sure he doesn’t get into much trouble. The ending of the movie is not your typical ending; in fact, the movie is what a movie ending should be if there is a typical ending of everyone being happy and every good guy getting the best in the end and the bad guy crying in the end. The movie leaves you wondering about what Vin Diesel will do and what happened to him in the end, and also what Paul Walker will do to explain to his superiors about what actually happened. This is a good movie to see if you are into cars and gang life style with a small dramatic twist, though it focuses on cars and Vin Diesel more than other things in the movie.

Hi fstfur4 [sorry for the late response!],
I think Vin Diesel was under a contract to appear in at least one sequel to the movie, so he appeared in the very end in the 3rd part of the series. Of course, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel did an amazing job in the first, better than what the other 2 could muster up.
I see that a 4th Fast and the Furious movie is indeed on the way, but details are not yet available unless you are a pro [paying] member on IMDB. Looking at the IMDB profiles of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, it seems they are both not in that movie, which can be very sad for many fans.
I did not watch the 3rd F&F, by the way, as the plotline, trailer and its synopsis is simply not what I want. The movie crew said Vin Diesel was in it, but as I mentioned above, he is in it for less than 10 seconds. Of course, when you have to fulfill a contract, even 10 seconds will do.
Off-topic: Paul Walker is being considered for a role in the remake of Mad Max series to replace Mel Gibson, which can turn out to be very good. Paul Walker is not a bad actor, and thus he can hopefully carry on the legacy created by Mel Gibson in the first 3 movies.
As for Vin Diesel, he is cut off from XXX and probably from the Fast and the Furious franchises, something which he helped create; instead, he is focusing on his next mega epic movie about a warrior from 3rd B.C. era, Hannibal the Conqueror, which I am guessing many are hoping to be the next Gladiator or even more, on a different level of course. Let’s see what happens.

It looks like they are working on a fourth fast and furious now. I hope it is better than the third. I like the first and second equally, the third IMO wasn’t up to par, and am really excited about the fourth movie. -John
