If I could, I would spend all nights in the fog. Until, of course, I see someone with a hook.

I saw Rolie Polie Olie at the recommendation of a friend who happened to have the video with them and would not accept any excuse from me for not watching it. I thought it would be a complete waste of time; I was surprised a bit, however. Not only are the less than half an hour episodes very interesting, they include characters of all sorts to keep every kid interested [why was I interested then?]. The series I watched were made in 1998 and onwards, using computer technology that may seem to be of historic origin for many people. However, children should be pleased if they have not been exposed to only the new “cinematic” animations from Disney and others that come only in theatres.

Made by Disney Studios, the episodes in question first feature a Happy Hearts Day, which is Valentine’s Day for humans. During this event, a guest comes to Olie’s house [the son robot], where Olie and one of his other friends are already in the middle of a game between them. This new guest is a girl robot, so both Olie and his other friend try their best to impress her. Soon, they get into the impression game with so much devotion they forget that they are impressing the girl, and start playing between themselves. Soon, the guest leaves because of boredom, and Olie and his friend learn a small lesson.

The 2nd episode involves Olie’s dog, who comes to realize that Olie is not good at taking care of him when there is more than one pet in the house [a robot fish which Olie just got]. The robot dog becomes sad after trying unsuccessfully to regain the lost attention from Olie, and then leaves the house. Only then Olie comes to realize what he has done. The 3rd and final episode involves a small family barbecue, very simple.

Featuring a planet where everything is round including yourself, the series involves characters in every shape and form; the refrigerator is a character with eyes and nose, the drinking cups have eyes and noses, the chair is a character, the stove is a character, even the barbecue stand is a character. Kids are surely to be pleased with it and since it is targeted to children, it is a good series to watch. Grown ups, well, may like it only if forced to watch it [probably]. Maybe not.
