Secret guy admirer on hi5
I just received an email from hi5 asking me to rejoin their network. I’ve been receiving such emails every few days now. Apparently, there are some people on that network that know me and want me to get back on the network. I deleted my hi5.com account a while back, and back then no one knew much about me through the network.
Each email contains a testimonial in my name for my account; apparently, you can still write a testimonial to someone’s account even if they canceled their account. A snapshot of the testimonial I received recently is included below. This is one of the 20 or so anonymous testimonials, from my friends apparently, that I’ve received in the past few months. It’s good to hear what friends have to say. Some of the testimonials, however, are from the same person and just like the following testimonial that I received today:
Here’s what the testimonial says:
“Great guy - very nice, good sense of humor, easy on the eyes - heck, if i was gay & he didn’t have a girlfriend and was a gay, i’d hit him up yo ; ) lol…“
Thank you, whoever you are, for making me realize how girls feel about anonymous love messages. I’m truly flattered, thank you, by the 3 or so similar testimonials I’m receiving every month from you. If it was once or twice, it would have been a good joke. Guys [and girls], I’ve left hi5 already, so please stop inviting me on it, and email me directly. What’s better: logging onto hi5, clicking on your friends list, finding me in your “pending friends” list and then writing a secret-guy-to-guy-lover admiration in my name, or emailing me directly so that I can reply with the words “Creepy, but let’s hang out with my other friends later on, one of them is gay and you can hookup with him, ok?” message?

LOL, wow… I’m still on hi5, but it’s only because of my friends. Those "secret admirers" are just plain weird!!!

Heh, I like secret admirers. But too many of such type are creeeepy. lol.

Yea, I was really surprised to see how much I loved it!(DDR) And I’m going to do exactly that… ask the guy whether this is "normal". I’m pretty sure, though, that it’s not, and it’s kind of a pain for me to have to go back there! Grrr.
I used to belong to hi5, too… in fact, I think I still do, but I NEVER check it. It’s just not that interesting to me!

Hehe, secret admirers are cool, but on the net, they are really creepy… You’d never know if it’s just a joke, or for real. Hehe.

Ack, I’d be so annoyed. Are you able to report it as spam or even block the incoming mail from hi5?

Celestial — > I’ve wanted to get DDR for a while, but put it off for obvious reasons :p
I don’t like hi5 either. Nor friendster. Nor myspace. Nor the other hundred or so networks wanting me to sign up. A few do work, but it’s too much hassle. How about allowing each network to connect with each other, the same way GAIM or Trilian connects MSN, Yahoo and ICQ [and others] together? That would be cool.
Chau — > Yes, creeeepy. I think it’s not a joke, but real. I really want to find out. :p
Lara — > I didn’t think about reporting that to hi5. Good idea; I’ll see if I can email their tech support and ask them what can be done about such a thing, even though I want to find out who it is. lol.

reminds me of why I never sign on ICQ. Within five minutes of sign in I always get an older Egyptian guy asking to marry me, no doubt looking for an American Visa…

Haha! that’s funny. I haven’t opened ICQ for a while now. I guess the creeps are moving onto other "ventures" than ICQ.

Hi Henry. Thanks for sharing.
Do you like hi5 type sites [to find "friends"] in general, or do you like hi5 specifically?
