The summer heat and dead a/c
The summer heat in Southern California is making many people use A/C all day long. The a/c in my house was also running at full steam for about a week before it committed suicide two days ago. I don’t know exactly what happened, but the a/c simply won’t start. Now there are fans in the house that are doing their best to keep things cool. At night, the entire house cools down a bit to a more comfortable temperature. During the day, however, unless I have two fans pointing straight at me, I keep thinking of taking a shower every two hours or so.
Even with the heat, people keep going to see Mickey Mouse and his army of friends at Disneyland every day. I don’t know how a big mouse would be an amazing sight to see when you’re being tortured by the heat, but I guess I can’t know unless I try it myself. However, if I didn’t have anything important to do in Southern California these days, I would have probably been spending the summer in the Bay Area.
My car a/c is also acting strange. Some days are so hot that it’s hard not to sweat if the car a/c isn’t turned on within three minutes of driving. The a/c in my car gives out more hot air than a burning oven. I now have to keep the car windows open to make sure I don’t sweat to death while driving during day. It’s interesting how having a single window open will bring in hot air most of the time, but having two opposite windows open will bring in a constant cool breeze and won’t make you sweat at all.
Regardless of the heat, driving around the county and other places is a routine thing to do. Very rare are the days when I would drive less than 60 miles. I have finally found a radio station called Jack FM that has different variety of music and it’s making listening to radio a bit easer. It has the usual types of advertisements also. However, I have never heard any radio host talk on it, and I love it. It’s better than hearing radio hosts talking about useless stuff that doesn’t provide any useful information. Hearing ads, then music and then ads again is better than hearing ads and then talk shows disguising ads as radio talk and then weather reports with ads and so on.
How is your view of the way things appear in summer? How is your summer going so far?

What a hot post!
I doubt you can stand the heat here in Malaysia. I think its hotter than the summer weather in US. Sometimes the tempreture reaches as high as 28degrees celcious. I dont know if you think thats hot but im conform to it.

Hehe, you guys actually have ACs down there?! Where my relatives live, in some apartment in Westminister, there are no ACs!!
Hehe about Disneyland. I want to go this year because of the 50th anniversary thing.
Anyways, my summer has been mostly crappy… But there is one good thing!
Hehehe.

Well, I was in my native place (Rajasthan) 3 days back and the temperature there is 46 degree celcius.
We have winds as added bonus, so it double pleasure.
One good thing, ACs work there…

Gah. It has been very hot here lately too. High 90’s, low 100’s. Our house isn’t insullated too well either, so I feel like our AC has been working overtime and I hope that it doesn’t die for at least those five years we are on that credit program lol. I wish we had an inground pool and a privacy fence…

Jerine — > lol, I like that. :p Hmmm, I wouldn’t know. I have been to places much hotter than Cali. Still, the heat here sucks even more when people go around worshipping the sun everyday. You will probably like this place. Today the highest is going to be 32 degrees celsius and that’s low compared to what it was in the last 2 weeks.
Chau — > Yes, heh. You should go to Disneyland in the month of July; the 4th of July month will bring in a lot of activities and fireworks. What’s the good thing? Sorry to hear it’s been down. I will read about it now (heads over to the site soon…) : ) One good thing? Hmm, I wanna know. :p
Sawai — > That is hot indeed. Are the winds warm or cool? The A/C’s here work too, though they also break down once in a while. My A/C is working again, though not perfectly for some reason.
Valerie — > Wow, that is hoooot. I hope the A/C doesn’t die either, or else you will probably agree to any price someone may charge to fix the A/C (extortion). Hmmm, inground pool and privacy fence would be nice; you can grow large trees or grass and keep the house cool. :p Hmmm, wait, bugs will come too, as they come here also sometimes and bug this house. Never mind. :p

I woke up sweating around 4:25 pm yesterday, on July 22nd, 2006. There was almost no air in the room, and everything was hot: the walls, the bed, and even the steel door knobs. The air conditioner…
