Series - 9th sign you are a moody $%^#!@ - you act moody because of various frustrations

Posted in General by Bes on Apr 24, 2007

This is the 9th post in a series of posts titled “10 signs you are a moody $%^#!@..” You can also read what I wrote for the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth signs. Thank you.

We are almost done with this series. Today is the 9th sign of moodiness, and tomorrow is the final sign that will seal these series. If you feel moody or if I made you moody, hopefully the following sign will make you realize that the problem may be something other than me or even yourself.

Following is the 9th sign that classifies you as a moody person:

9 : You act rude and extreme to everyone and everything because of frustration due to various things

This may be the most common sign of moodiness out there. Many people feel frustrated or agitated because of things like stress, hunger, lack of sleep, health, work pressure, relationship issues or even because of boredom, and they will let out such feelings on everything in the world. These people will act rude to everyone while they are feeling frustrated, and these people will also release their stress on anything that crosses their path.

Following is an example of someone I knew who displayed such a moodiness.

An example of someone being rude to everything in the universe because of frustration

One of my old classmates used to be obsessed with perfection. He had to write perfectly, and he had to dress perfectly. He had to talk perfectly, and he had to work and study perfectly. The only thing he did not do perfectly was to control his moods perfectly. If he made a mistake in any part of his life, say, at work or in his class work, he would act moody all day. He would not talk to people on purpose, hit the brakes really hard while driving, throw away food when he did not feel hungry instead of keeping the food for later, etc. He was frustrated at his inability to be perfect all the time.

The result was that people focused on that negative aspect more than the positive features in his character. He got and is still getting into many relationships, but they do not last for long. His inability to hide his moods or even communicate his frustration nicely to others results in people wanting to avoid him, as they do not know when he will start venting his frustrations on things and people around him in an extreme fashion.

Everyone feels frustrated over something, but not everyone acts moody by letting out that frustration on innocent victims

If you are a person who exhibits the above mood, you are not an evil person. You simply do not know how to release your stress in ways that does not affect others or even yourself. Hitting your car brakes hard because of feeling stress may be fine, but think about this: would you rather pay a huge bill to fix your brakes because you of not wanting to crush a squirrel, or would you rather pay hundreds of dollars on car repair bills simply because you felt moody that the breakfast you cooked tasted horrible? Such moods result in people feeling the need to take anger management classes, because in simple terms, you are simply being angry at everything if your frustrations about various things are affecting the way you treat everything around you in a negative fashion.

What do you think of randomly moody people who are rude to everyone and everything?

What do you think of such moody people? Do you think that, because of the fact they are moody, they are exactly the same as every other moody person mentioned so far?

Thank you for reading this series so far. Please come back tomorrow for the 10th and final sign of moodiness. I will let you find out tomorrow what the final sign is going to be. :)

I think they can’t control how they feel or simply temper.. like you said, they can’t manage their anger. I think that moodiness is the result of one’s inability to meet his/her own expectations of the individual. Seeing that the individual can’t meet his/her own expectations, he/she feels that he/she is a failure and therefore, becomes moody.

Also, it may be another case when ‘pathetic fallacy’ arises. When the weather is raining, symbolizing sadness, you may feel sad as well.. or maybe its the other way around .. could be both, but this is a different kind of moodiness in itself. I can’t really explain this generally because its probably different for others..

Your 9th sign depicts some really moody people. I think that many people get moody because of little/big things like constant rain, or frustration, or lack of sleep, but not all of them express their moodiness in anger. Those who do - they’ve got some problems and I’m not sure that the anger management would be their cure. Those who don’t, may make other people moody as well, more like “blue”. But sometimes finding a soul mate who can relate may help the “blues” go away.

I think this one applies to me.. This one and probably PMS… ;)

Vera, maybe that is true, that they cannot control how they feel or their temper. Good point about people feeling like being failures, that must be a big blow, resulting in moodiness! 0_0

I think I know what you mean. Many natural events in the world make people moody. The rain may depress someone, and so can the cold weather. Things like those are usually some biological things that a person cannot control, but that person can sometimes see if they can control their resulting moods so as not to spill those moods on other people. What do you think?

Vivien-inspirationbit, thanks! Yes, I know a lot of people who get depressed and moody if it rains, even if they are happy with everything else that happened that day. You may be right; anger manager in that case many not be the answer, as the reason for such a behavior lies in natural things like the rain. However, if such things result in anger issues, then they probably do need something that can help them manage and control their anger.

Good point; sometimes a soul mate can “help the “blues” go away.”

Suki, thanks for the comment, and long time no see! :) I know everyone feels frustrated. Even I feel frustrated sometimes if I have a lot of things to do before midnight, and I still have to write a post on this site.

Also, regarding PMS, hmmm… lol. That should have been the 11th sign of moodiness? or 10.5th sign? ;)
