This is the 10th and final post in a series of posts titled “10 signs you are a moody $%^#!@..” You can also read what I wrote for the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth signs. Thank you.

Here we are. This is the 10th and the final post in this series. I have had such a wonderful time expressing this topic, and I have had such a wonderful time reading your comments also. Today I will talk about a very weird form of moodiness. If you are feeling moody or I may have made you moody, this post should help you realize what moodiness is all about.

Following is the 10th sign that classifies you as a moody person:

10 : You act rude because of moody people around you

This may be the strangest form of moodiness you may encounter. Some people feel the tendency to act rude around people who are already acting rude. If you are one of those people who feels their moods changing around moody people, chances are you are allowing the moody person to indirectly affect your moods. You may actually be a person who does not allow different things to affect your moods that may in turn affect your interaction with others, but for some reason, other moody people tend to set an alarm in your mind that results in you becoming a different person. Even if you feel moody at a moody person, you yourself are still a moody person, as the following example shows.

An example of people becoming moody on the freeway because of other moody drivers

Some people may even say that the traffic on Los Angeles freeways, specially the 5 freeway, causes more stress than actual murder in front of our eyes. I cannot blame such people. Imagine getting up at 6 in the morning and heading to work, and getting struck in traffic for literally 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours when you are heading back home in the evening, for a total of 4 hours of hitting the brakes and speeding up slowly. Even on my recent trip to Los Angeles and Orange County, I saw people hitting the steering wheels, throwing coffee cups out of their windows, and lashing out their anger even at children in cars who happen to just glance at them. Such frustration due to traffic actually makes such people change their moods.

Here is the funny part: some people will be very happy in stuck traffic until they see some other driver become moody because of the traffic. These happy people will be sitting in their cars, simply listening to music and trying to cope with the stress in a relaxed manner, when suddenly, because of seeing a driver hitting his or her steering wheel in anger, start getting upset themselves. They do not get upset because of traffic but because of seeing the moody person. No one knows for certain if such calm people get tense all of a sudden because they do not like seeing people get upset, but whatever the actual reason may be, such people actually start becoming moody at the same things as the other moody person. Slowly, as they become really moody, they start lashing out their moodiness at everyone and everything around them.

Becoming moody because of moody people still makes you a moody person

Among the several other reasons, there are two main reasons why some people start acting moody around moody people:

  1. They portray the anger that they themselves see
  2. They become upset as they do not like to see others getting upset

Either way, these people act moody to the person who is already moody, and as time passes, they also start acting moody around everyone else. You may notice this at parties sometimes: a happy person may simply see a person acting rude to everyone around them, and may in turn end up being quiet for the rest of the party also. They may not only act rude to the rude person because of their mentality that “a rude person deserves to feel rudeness from others“, but they may also starting acting weird around everyone else. This is the same as driving in a busy lane and getting moody because someone honks at you. A frustrated driver may honk at you because of your slow speed, and after a few minutes you may be honking at other people for various reasons, even if on regular days you never honk at anyone for any reason.

You are probably a moody person who acts moody because of other moody people. Now, it may seem as if being moody around moody people is a good thing. However, unless you know how to limit your moodiness only to the moody person in question, you will end up being moody to everyone. Also, even if you are able to act moody only around the other moody person in question, that does not mean you have to act moody. If you decide to be moody, you should realize that you are being moody, no matter what the reason.

What do you think of reactionary moody people who act rude and moody only because of other moody people?

What do you think of such people? Do you think it is justifiable to act moody because of moody people? Do you think sometimes acting moody around moody people can teach those moody people a lesson so that in the future they can realize their mood swings?

Thank you! Smile

Thank you so much for staying with me through the “10 signs you are a moody $%^#!@” series. You managed to keep away your moodiness through these 10 days of pure moody posts, and so did I! I hope I have been clear enough in most of my writing so far, and that much of what I have said has made sense to you. Please let me know what you think about these posts, and if possible, any story you would like to share yourself about any moody post or anything related to the topic of moodiness.

Please come back tomorrow so that we can return to our normal, unmoody schedule.

Thank you, and have a moodiless day. Smile

I have to say this is such a true post. I find myself mirroring certain people in my life according to their attitudes. It is kind of depressing. I feel it is a true thought that states that we will gravitate to people that are similar to us. I have tried to put myself around people that are not going to bring me down because I believe that their negativity rubs off and I find my self fighting back or being apathetic to important things in life. Good thoughts here.

    Bes,

Just for the record: I have never thrown “coffee” at people (or little children) from my car. Although I have had water balloons thrown at me. That is a different story. Smile

Cade, thanks for your comment, and thanks also for coming to the site. Smile

I think I know what you mean. However, don’t we all somehow, maybe unconsciously, mirror someone else in life? If we only mirror people with problems and specifically their problems, then it may need some attention. I think it is a very good idea to hang around people who will not bring you down, or even to make sure people do not bring us down unnecessarily.

    Good comment, thanks! Smile

Vivien-inspiration, lol. Now your bohoohoo comment made me bohohoooo also! =P

Ronald, lol @ little children. How about cats? Wink

Also, now we *must* all hear about the water balloons being thrown at you, as we all feel sad for not doing it to you first!

HOLY CRAP! I’ve been trying to grow out of this for ages. It seems that no matter what, I gravitate towards moody people and I hate it. I know I’m moody because of them, my mom was a moody #%^$ but always blamed me for it. Now I do the same thing. HOW CAN I STOP!? My boyfriend is super moody, but maybe it is because of me. FRIG.

The driving example was an interesting one. Mob mentality comes into effect on the freeways sometimes. Road rage is such a funny thing, I try my best to be passive aggressive, but even still feel the frustration that would in some other people’s cases set them off.

I just relocated to Los Angeles from Toronto, Canada and its just a completely different world of traffic. You have to go into it ‘expecting’ to have a 40 minute commute take over an hour and a half… as I type this thinking about it, I’m near LAX and need to get to the valley for a band rehearsal at 7:30. There’s no sense in going home first and it will take longer as I can’t use the carpool lane. I can’t wait for the 110->101 interchange. I usually spend the time catching up on phone calls, txts, e-mail and listening to music or new material or even writing lyrics. – laptops work well when sitting idle. hmmm.

The massive amount of traffic is one of the many prices we pay for the immaculate weather I guess, plus Metal Skool at the Key club is always around on Mondays to cheer us up after hitting Cabo Cantina for happy hour on Sunset!. At least I got to eat lunch outside in the sun instead of freeze my ass off in Toronto running to the subway! – -My heavy metal band is Unraveled btw with next show on Feb 5th at Dragonfly bar in Hollywood. We’re stoked. – KRONiS
