I was told last month that I would get it by the middle of June. When I didn’t get anything in the mail for 2 weeks, I contacted the refunds department and was told that the check hadn’t been mailed yet because of the end of the fiscal year. I was told to wait another week. I waited for almost two weeks after that, checking every piece of mail as if it was my only purpose in life. I went to the refunds office again afterwards to see what was going on. After checking on the computer for about 10 minutes, the front desk staff at the office told me that the refund check would be mailed on Friday, which was last Friday. I was told to wait another week for the check. The University is less than two miles from my home, so I assumed that I would get the check in the mail within 3 to 4 days. While there are instances when mail sent from one part of the state to another is delayed, the United States Postal Service (USPS) claims that it usually takes them about 3 business days to deliver any mail within the same city, sometimes sooner. Today marks another week already, and I still have no check. I called the refunds office early this morning to let them know that I was getting really old waiting for this refund. The lady over the phone responded by saying “sometimes the mail takes a long time to get to its destination.” I asked her if the check was being mailed from the University or from Alaska.
