Interesting fact # 1
Did you know that the
This is to signify the respect for the Canadian culture and tradition, and also to serve as a way to identify a Canadian McDonald’s as being a Canadian place [and thus a local place] to eat, and not a place that is benefiting some other country.

I think thats a very good marketting strategy.
Kinda adds a patriotic touch, even more good reason for canadians to go and eat there.

Hey.
I’m not a lumberjack,
or a fur trader…
and I don’t live in an igloo
or eat blubber, or own a dogsled…
and I don’t know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I’m certain they’re really, really nice.
I have a Prime Minister,
not a President.
I speak English and French,
NOT American.
and I pronouce it ABOUT,
NOT A BOOT.
I can proudly sew my country’s flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, NOT policing.
DIVERSITY, NOT assimilation,
AND THAT THE BEAVER IS A TRULY PROUD AND NOBLE ANIMAL.
A TOQUE IS A HAT,
A CHESTERFIELD IS A COUCH,
AND IT IS PRONOUCED ‘ZED’ NOT ‘ZEE’, ‘ZED’!
CANADA IS THE SECOND LARGEST LANDMASS!
THE FIRST NATION OF HOCKEY!
AND THE BEST PART OF NORTH AMERICA!
MY NAME IS JOE!
AND I AM CANADIAN!

I know this place is where I am
No other place is better than
No matter where I go I am
Proud to be Canadian
I am. You know I am.
I am Canadian.
I am. You know I am.
I am Canadian.
I love this country where I am
This land is where I make my stand
Y’a Pas un Coeur Qui est (No other heart is)
Truer than
The one we call Canadian.
I am. You know I am.
I am Canadian.
I am. You know I am.
I am Canadian.
I AM CANADIAN!!!!!

My comments usually aren’t very helpful or very intelligent. Oh well. I know you like it. Mwahahaha!

I wonder if another reason would be to semi-disassociate with the American company in the case of law suits? If it happened at a "Canadian" McDonald’s then it’s separate from the US one… who knows… just a thought.
Being Canadian, I always thought that McDonald’s did it as a marketing scheme, separating itself from Wendy’s, Burger King, Harvey’s etc.

birdie –> Heh, it might be worth the trip if the burgers actually taste better there. : )
Dumas –> It could be the lawsuits, and it could be the image of patriotism also like Sawai mentioned above. No matter what the reason could be, I’m sure it is being used as a marketing and brand-building technique, I agree.
