If I could, I would spend all nights in the fog. Until, of course, I see someone with a hook.

Guessing the size of food by its price

Posted in General by Bes on Jun 22, 2006

Go to any fast food place and ask them that you want the biggest sandwich or burger they carry. Usually, they’ll say that all of their burgers and sandwiches are big, and most of the time, they’ll recommend something on the menu that’s the most expensive item they carry. In reality, many of these items are actually smaller than their cheaper counterparts. On top of that, the pictures on the menu make even a small fry look like a foot long.

I had to make an emergency stop by Jack in the Box today around 7 in the evening, as I hadn’t eaten all day and the lane dividers on the freeway were starting to fade away ever minute. I asked the cashier to give me the biggest item on the menu. She told me that all the burgers were huge, and then looked at the menu and recommended a spicy chicken ciabatta sandwich. It was the most expensive item on the menu and I was excited paying for it, thinking I was going to have the feast of my life.

I did have a feast, though it wasn’t the feast of my life. It wasn’t even the feast of the month. When I picked up the food, the sandwich was smaller than their regular cheeseburger, which is the cheapest burger they carry. Aren’t workers supposed to have an idea how big the burgers or sandwiches are? Price does not always mean something is bigger or comes in larger quantities at any food establishment.

I have to stop eating fast food.

fast food is convenient but i encounter your problem all the time. when i saw the burger from the menu i expected something big. but when i got it…ahhh!!! i almost die of heart attack. it’s as small as a tennis ball.

i wanted to ask something for a long time… what’s with the PENGUIN?

  2. Chau :

Yeah, I know what you mean!!! I’ve got "ripped off" like that before! It’s soo stupid that it costs soo much just for this little thing!

Jerine — > Yes, all items look huge and when you have them in your hand, you feel like throwing them out.

    Regarding the penguin, LOL. :p

Chau — > Heh, yes ripped off is right. Some places have been charging extra for extra ketchup for a while now.

Sawai — > Are they mostly McDonald’s or something else too?

Valerie — > Yes, it’s the temptation that’s at work, and specially in the middle of the night, fast food places are so much more interesting than albertsons.com . :p
