Youth orchestra man, thanks for the comment. A lot of people in many countries do not have money for laptops, or money for different show-off laptops.

True, I agree: the problem may seem very exaggerated to the other, more real or different-angled and themed, problems elsewhere, like in your country. In some areas people attach extensively to materialistic luxuries, while at the same time in the same or other areas, people may attach to other things. Of course, the validity of such importance is not always in the "very important" category because some things are more important than others when it comes to realizing what facilities we have and what luxuries we have that we may consider as being essential. How would you react if someone around you said they lost their laptop, compared to losing something else that is more important to you?

Digital Vegetarian, thanks for the comment. Yes, that is a tricky thing but there is software available for Mac which allows the webcam to take snapshots every once in a while or when triggered by some actions/events, and that can allow the owner to hopefully get some pictures of the person using the laptop after it is stolen.

Harian Metro, thanks for the comment. Do you use the Mac for specific reasons or tasks? What would you do if your Mac got stolen?

Man, I don't know what I would do without my macbook! - maybe insure it next time? I like that idea of running software to keep transmitting to a datacenter, but how does it know it is stolen? I guess it would just send something every once in a while - How would it know where it is? I guess the IP....

hmmm. good luck with that one.

It's a pity most of the people in my country do not have money for laptops. Thus there's no such ability to own and use them... at least in a way some of modern people are used to. So the problems may seem exarrogated.

Vera, I think it's long gone, and Ronald can stop crying, or maybe try to stop crying. I wonder what is happening to the laptop at this very moment.

That is very nice: your imagination is a more sincere care about this laptop than most other people who may say they care but don't. Maybe the laptop will end up in your county somehow, which would be super cool, no? :) You can then buy it cheap, and I can buy it from you on a further friend discount, and then I can taunt the thing at Ronald anytime I want.

You have a Dell, right? I forgot.... 0_0

Siti Nurhaliza, thanks for the comment. I am using a Toshiba, and it is safe too. I am hoping that more people around me get a MacBook, so if anyone wants to steal a laptop and they don't know much, they will feel attracted to the MacBook instead of the Toshiba. :)

What kind of an Acer laptop do you have?

inspirationbit, I will tell Ronald about what you said.

AdoptionMomma, there are a few ways to track the laptop-stealing people. You can buy a tracking program that cannot be uninstall easily, and anytime a person goes online, they transmit data to the company that provides the tracking program, which in turn provides the information and the location of the laptop to the owner and the police. It is not an expensive investment considering the fact that losing the laptop can result in more loss than even the value of the laptop [with the data on it, that is].

I must say, as I think I have said before, your username is very interesting. How did you come up with that name?

tallfreak, yes, it happened to Ronald. Only after 1 month, can you believe that? I hope he finds it too, and yes, just like you, I am extra worried and focusing on my gadgets and thinking of installing high tech stealth security on them so that anyone who steals them gets zapped to trinity!

Gorilla Trades, yes, I was so surprised, and felt sad too since Ronald was very happy to get the laptop and he used it a lot. If I had gotten a MacBook and lost it within a month, hmmm, I would have become Columbo. Maybe that is what I need ["heaven forbid!"] to become Columbo as I have always wanted to [among the dozens of other things]. Columbo would have found the dead laptop, assuming it's a homicide, within a day.

Sorry, hmm, for going off-topic. I hope he finds the laptop. Then he can watch Columbo on the laptop.
