Getting out of the line after paying
Have you ever waited in a line at a fast food place to order something? When you hand over cash or your debit/credit card to the cashier, they usually take up to 30 seconds to give you your change or receipt back. However, the moment you get your receipt, you are expected to move out of the line. The cashier will start looking at other customers, making sure you regret standing near the cashier for even a second after you have the receipt in your hand.
Whether you paid $5 or $50, you are expected to move out of the line immediately. The change I get in my hand at fast food places is immediately followed by the movement of the face of the cashier towards the person behind me. I’m not even allowed to stand there and make sure I got all my change back, or to put the change in my pocket and keep the receipt in my hand.
How about you? Have you ever run into something similar? What do you think of this specific procedure of immediately saying “Next customer” when the last coin is thrown into your hands along with the receipt?
Here’s a view of the San Francisco International Airport while on the BART. In the picture, from closest to farthest, you can see parked planes from United Airlines, Air China and Singapore Airlines.

Hehe, yes, I know what you mean about having to move out of line as fast as you can… I just hate that!!!
But anyways, hehe, I’ve actually been to that airport last year… I went on China Airlines… Hehe…
But anyways, glad you’re back!!!!! I’ve missed you!

ironically. i just got back from one of the best fast food experiences ever. i hate fast food usually, and stay away from it. but sometimes that’s all you can afford and it’s quick.
we were at kfc. the guy who served us was friendly, efficient, and joked around. he made the experience fun, rather than drab. i hate when people who hate working in food service work in food service and then have a negative attitude about it while taking your order. this guy was the complete opposite and it made me smile to know there are still some people who aren’t jaded.

Yeah though it seems like it’s the people behind me who want me to move. And, you know, if I’m by myself and I’m trying to get my card and receipt in my purse and take care of the food and hold E… well, it’s going to take me a bit longer than the average Joe…

Chau — > Heh, yeah. Wow, you have been there too! That’s nice. How is that airline? Good? Good food?
Thanks! Me 2!
Stacee — > Wow, that’s interesting and nice to know. I had a similar experience at Edward’s [movies] recently. The cashier at the concession stand was trying to be funny and he thought he was a genius, and he wasn’t. However, it was interesting and nice to interact with such a person who seems to be at least treating you as an audience to his jokes or his talking, instead of you as customer # 5844102.
Valerie — > Yeah, that would take even more time. It’s annoying; average Joe only has to put the pile of cash into his torn pocket, all mingled and everything, scratching his belly at the same time.

That airline’s ok. The food isn’t good. Haha… But that was the first and last time I’ve ate airplane food… Hehe… So I can’t really compare it too much, but I didn’t really like it.

Chau — > Heh, yeah, airline food is usually not comparable to regular, on-land food. :p
Jess — > [writes it down]. Gotcha! Hopefully, I won’t need to use it as the people I want to meet will come down here. :p
Porter airline - interesting name, btw.
