Brushing for a better breath, and other misuses in life
I like that title. Brush your teeth at least two times a day to keep the doctor away. Even Dracula on Sesame Street said that and he loved red apples, remember? However, I’ve noticed a recent trend in the last year by visiting a few friends and spending sometime with them. A few of the people I know finish brushing their teeth in under half a minute while I’m waiting for them to get ready to go out.
While it’s weird for me to talk about the brushing habits of people, it’s very interesting to see that the emphasis is shifting from keeping the teeth healthy to keeping the teeth white and the breath fresh. With so many teeth whitening liquids available, it’s surprising to find how many teeth look great, but they’re unhealthy on the inside and have gum disease hidden under the artificial paints.
I would like to take that thought and point out something that came to my mind while thinking of that. Let’s extend the concept a little bit further to apply it to other things. Let’s take a look at things for what they were originally supposed to do, and how we use them for something different without realizing it. How about driving? In the begriming, we all had cars, beautiful or ugly, to get us around. Now, we have 300 miles max speed [which we can never even try to achieve at this time] with so much luxury, that we have a small home inside our cars.
Imagine how you sometimes feel when you have an old and ugly car and your friends all have a new one? We first started wearing clothes to have something on our bodies, and now we wear different things to stand out and to indirectly compete with others. We all love sunglasses and wore them before to save ourselves from the sun. Now we wear them on cloudy days also. We used to wear caps to keep our faces from burning in the sun; now we wear caps in the middle of the night to keep our hair under control [I do this too, I agree].
You see what I’m pointing to? It’s very interesting, and healthy in many cases. Try to see what things you do in life that were intended for some other purpose. It should be very interesting.
