Good use of the “don’t try to change someone” quote. I agree that quote is off base and won’t come from a good friend. If something is bothering you in a relationship, tell the other person. Don’t look at is as changing them, look at it as compromise.

In this maze of 'relationships' every move has to be done carefully. What goes around comes around. Whether its a man or a woman, they have to give the other person the 'cushion' of freedom to be their own and at the same time to have a connectivity.

I think that no matter who you are if you are in a relationship that makes you unhappy you should get out. Life is way too short to spend even one day unhappy if it can somehow be changed. Of course some people are unhappy in themselves, but that's a topic for a whole 'nother series isn't it?

The only time when appreciation could be the most sincere is the time we start ignoring appreciation on purpose. And we wonder why majority of the couples in Northern and Southern Americas end up splitting even after 40+ years of marriage or being together.

An insightful post - and loads of it can be applied to relationship difficulties that are outside of the one-to-one sphere; like the ones my OH and I are having with his mother currently, for example.

Good stuff.
