If I could, I would spend all nights in the fog. Until, of course, I see someone with a hook.

Advertisements on the beach by Beach’n Billboard

Advertising on the beach is an interesting concept that has been around since 1997 in many areas.

Beach’n Billboard” does this, and from the pictures on its site, it seems to be doing it nicely. Even though we see advertisements everywhere we go [even in theatres before the movies start, which is annoying], advocates of this specific type of advertising claim that having advertisements on beaches may actually help at this moment, bringing in enough funds to help keep the beaches clean and also remind us [the visitors to the beach] to keep the beach clean with the “Please Don’t Litter” signs imprinted with every ad. Since the advertisements aren’t permanent and no material is used in making them, and nothing is wasted, it seems to be a healthier alternative to the normal billboard ads, according to such advocates.

I think some people may find it uneasy to sit on an ad and ruin it completely. However, I am sure that it would also look interesting and make the beaches look better once we are sitting on them. Many people would find it fun and kind of an art, to run around the beach and find out different kinds of designs that are imprinted on this temporary surface. While we may not welcome advertisements in places where we want to relax and get away from “the world”, if such ads aren’t intrusive and are the only means of helping the beaches support themselves by bringing in funds to help them clean, and look nice at the same time, I think it should be expanded to more beaches throughout the country. As of now, the ads appear in some places within the U.S. and Europe.
