Day 27 – Tomato Bisque Soup & Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Today Katie asked me if I wanted to participate in the ritual called cooking. I grew up in a culture where cooking happened every 5 minutes, so it is not something that bores me. However, becoming vegetarian has made me, for a reason not fully known at the moment, respect food more and celebrate it more. So I helped Katie with cooking today, albeit very little.

She wanted to make Tomato Bisque Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwich. For me, anything with tomato used to be a very doubtful element in life. Too much of tomato for me used to be a big no no, and now I’m going to be having to eat Tomato soup? I was actually hoping the grilled cheese sandwich would turn out to be the life saver for me.

Is Tomato Bisque Soup good? I wonder!

Day 14 of Being Vegetarian – Boca Burgers Are Evil?

I got the Royal Red Robin Burger with Gardenburger instead of the beef patty. The waiter asked me “Are fries ok with that?” Yep, I wanted fries. However, I forgot to ask him to not include the bacon in the burger. So my burger came with the bacon, which I happily gave to Katie.

I have to say: the burger was DELICIOUS! I got A1 steak sauce to put onto the burger. It was fantastic. The picture you see in this entry is of me going to the Red Robin website and customizing the awesome Royal Red Burger with a Greenburger. I also left the bacon on there like it happened today. I think bacon always looks gross in real life and in the picture too.

Boca Burgers Are Meat Addiction Replacements

There was an option to have Boca burger instead of a Gardenburger. The reason behind Boca burgers is simple: they taste a bit like meat and they are not meat. I had to think about the reasons why I would like a Boca replacement, and the only thing I could think about was the taste: the only reason I would want a Boca burger would be to eat something that almost tasted like meat. Sure, it may be a problem for many to give up meat taste, but I’m focusing on not caring about meat taste altogether.

For me, that is a bad mentality. Why would I want to have something that tastes like meat when in my mind I want to stop caring about eating meat forever? Simply stopping eating meat while still craving for meat smell or taste is not good in my view. Gardenburger it was, and it tasted good with the overall burger flavors and the A1 steak sauce on top of it.

Kashmir Spinach from Target is good!

Kashmir Spinach from Day 13 was actually very good. It had a lot of flavors, though they were mild flavors. I did enjoy every bite with the pita bread, so I can safely say that Kashmir Spinach even with very mild flavors tastes very good.

What do you think of Red Robin or Boca burgers in general? Thanks for reading? :)

I’ll start working on and releasing some books (digital and print) later this year hopefully focusing on different topics related to vegetarianism and life. My other site will focus on releasing some blogs, WordPress, websites, online and other related books (digital and print) and maybe videos.

Day 13 of Being Vegetarian – Flavor

[UPDATE: May 22nd, 2011 - 1:49pm] Found out that Katie got the Kashmir Spinach from Target and not Trader Joe’s. :O [/UPDATE]

Today was supposed to be Rapture day. It’s around 9pm right now. While we noticed an earthquake around 7:01pm, there have been no sightings of anyone flying into the sky. No one has come forward claiming to be Jesus Christ. What I did see today, however, was me focusing a lot on food flavors.

The scariest thing about being a vegetarian for me has been the change and absence of flavor that I am used to. Meat of any kind tastes good only because of flavor; imagine eating sushi without any soy sauce and wasabi. Imagine eating a rare steak without any A1 steak sauce. Imagine eating any kind of meat without any kind of flavor. Imagine eating any vegetarian dish without any meat.

While many people do eat a lot of salads and vegetarian dishes that in my view have absolutely no taste and no flavor of any kind, I prefer having anything that has good flavor. Flavor, of course, translates to good, bade or strange tastes, depending on who is tasting it.

It is all about FLAVOR for me

5 Surprisingly Good Things About Vegetarianism

5 surprisingly good things about vegetarianism.

Does vegetarianism bring these 5 good things into your life?

Today marks the 30 days of me becoming a vegetarian. June 8th was the day I decided to stop eating meat, whether for good or stupid reasons.

The 2 main things, and usually the only things, that many vegetarians tell you is that becoming a vegetarian makes you healthy and saves animal lives. What many vegetarians never tell you are the other good or bad things that come into your life once you become a vegetarian. Since the concept of avoiding any meat involves food, probably the most basic and essential part of any life, changing anything in your daily food style like starting to not eat meat or even starting to eat meat means that your life may start experiencing some big mental or physical changes, or even both.

Today we cover the 5 surprisingly good things about vegetarianism at The Reasoner.

5 Reasons Being a Vegetarian Can Be Bad

Since I wrote this post, I’ve become a vegetarian full-time and everything explained in this article is now different. Amazing turn, isn’t it? Check out my vegetarian related articles. Be sure to Like The Reasoner on Facebook too.

It has been 21 days since I decided to stop eating meat. Do I like being a vegetarian? Yes, it is a different kind of life now. I have to completely change my lifestyle and go through a process of rewriting or re-planning many things that had been conditioned into my daily activities. That is a very good thing in my view, for it is better to realize why I do things than to actually be a robot that does things without realizing them.

I do not feel the light beaming down from the skies and making me feel different. I do, however, feel like a completely different human being because I have to change everything I know and used to think of daily when it comes to food. I have to eat different, plan where I can find food for myself, and I have to deal with the mental and physical changes that are starting to happen because of my decision to stop eating meat.

5 reasons being a vegetarian can be bad

Can vegetarianism be bad for you?

I have, however, experienced many bad things that are happening because of my decision to become a vegetarian. They have not changed my views and the reasons why I became a vegetarian even a bit. Even then, I would like to share with you what I am experiencing or feeling so that you can make up your mind as to whether or not the beginning and fundamental changes below will affect your decision to stop eating meat.

Let us see the 5 reasons why becoming a vegetarian can be bad for you. The best way to avoid such reasons is to realize them beforehand or to address them once any signs point out to their existence.

I Stopped Eating Dead Meat This Week

Meat - I stopped eating it this week

I stopped eating meat this week. What are you eating?

Earlier this week I was introduced to a link by @Aazzure, or Azure, on Twitter. Azure usually shares very awesome videos with me that focus around the concept of life, today’s societies, the world we live in, how we really live, and other similar things.

Well, the link Azure introduced this time focused around animals. I clicked the link and saw that a video, almost around 2 hours long, start playing on a site titled “EARTHLINGS.” I immediately clicked the main home page link on that site to check summarized info somewhere so that I could know what was playing instead of watching the entire thing first. Well, the home page itself started playing a short trailer. The trailer was around 2 minutes long, I think. 1 minute and 24 seconds into the trailer, if I remember correctly, I made the most drastic decision of my life. It was June 8th, 2010.

I decided to stop eating meat.
