Do you know what things your society does not want studied?
Any analysis of something in a practical or a detailed fashion can usually help in understanding that “something” a bit more. Society studies voting statistics, the number of cancer patients, the amount of garbage thrown onto the streets every year, the number of cats that are taken into shelters daily and even the amount of time workers spend on lunch every day. How come, then, society does not try and gets extremely paranoia of the thought of studying racism, discrimination, prejudice, cultural narrow-mindedness and similar things? Would not the scientific study of such things shed more light on all social issues instead of us assuming everyone is good or bad while the world keeps on arguing about things daily? Society may consider these studies or topics taboo, but they are alive and thriving daily in your life.
All of these can be analyzed through actual data and studies. Why is no such research done? Are we afraid of finding out how bad our societies and our own identities really are? We go on TV and in front of everyone else with fake assumptions and a lot to say, yet in reality everyone realizes the reality is something else.
