“Get your vote on, and get other thoughts off your head”10.31.04

Few other places offer you a chance of observing a busy life in its transition than a train, almost any kind of short-distance commuter train. I was recently in San Francisco area, and was riding the train almost every few hours. Seeing people cuddled all around each other observing others and their own life is interesting, and so is seeing people scattered on an adjacent train car, having all the time to look at things around them and their own life is interesting also. While most of the nation is busy trying to decide who to vote for, and deciding on how to go and vote for the person they prefer, life goes on for everyone overall; it is not affected at all other than the small fact that it is on your mind some time, or most of the time [for majority of the people].

Beauty products advertising targeted at youth10.27.04

I have been doing some research on advertising lately, and here is a short, general idea that I wanted to share. The current advertising targeted at teenagers aims to stay with them for the rest of their lives. If you root for the young minds, you can root an idea deep enough for them to hold on to forever. This is not bad; marketing your product to young people is a good business for many. However, the issue of whether these ads are harmful to the young and still developing minds of the young ones lies in the heart of the content of the ads.

Firefox gaining momentum10.26.04

With the popularity of Firefox as the main browser on a computer for many people, there seems to be a a question as to when majority of the web sites on the Internet will be re-designed within the HTML coding specifications, instead of around Internet Explorers’ [IE] specifications. You can try both browsers at the same time and use IE whenever a web site does not function properly without it [such as the Windows Update site].

Until such a re-design occurs, many people who want to convert completely will have to keep IE as a backup, as the only way to keep getting the latest Windows security patches and updates; these updates are currently only available for download, through the online Windows Update site, through IE only. Manual updates can always be downloaded [so far] through the main Microsoft downloads area.

The new concept of religions - believe in yourself and nature10.24.04

The best way to tackle the question “What is your religion?” is to say that you believe in either all the religions, or that you do not believe in any religion yet. This ‘yet’ part gives one the flexibility of letting the other person know that you are not an atheist, and that you are indirectly researching the issue further, whether practically or in your head, to find out what your preferences are.

The religions for peace aim to provide the concept of religion without an emphasis on devotion to a single foreign identity; instead, many of the religions and concepts that fall into such a category aim to strive the idea that the one main thing you absolutely must believe in is nature, which includes yourself. Volunteers like Hatsume Sato tend to promote the feelings of self consciousness and self respect through different methods. Hatsume Sato, for example, focuses on realizing the nature of nature and to focus on cooking proper food with devotion [among some other things] as a path to self healing, both physically and mentally.

The concept of being healed by following some simple procedures that others have found will sound attractive to many who search for the answer in things other than the main major religions or beliefs. While such religions may prove to be very interesting to almost anyone who seeks them, one has to show the same keen sense of analyzing the new or old concepts [old concepts which they did not realize were important, yet they knew about them] through the different senses in the body. Just because something is said to do something, does not mean it will. Also, just because something can be analyzed to be doubted for no reason other than to doubt every concept of similar types, does not mean it should be. You are your own master, and you are your own slave.

Below is one of the pictures of Hatsume Sato, at her seminar yesterday in Torrance, that I took.

Hotmail ads still around for some account owners10.22.04

Regarding my earlier entry, Hotmail has changed the display for the main Hotmail interface [by removing the ads] for some accounts only. Many accounts still see the ads normally, cluttered everywhere.

It may be a new experiment being done by MSN to try out new things to come.

Books taking more than 20 days to arrive10.22.04

I recently ordered some books through Amazon and used the expedited shipping service on as many books as possible. I purchased some books directly through Amazon, and others through sellers selling through Amazon. The only book I could not apply the expedited option to was by a private seller [a book selling service] that only provides normal Media mail.

New Hotmail without the ads- temporary change?10.21.04

If you have a hotmail account, you should see a major change in your account as of today, this very hour; there are absolutely no advertisements on the “Mail” area of Hotmail.

This may be a test, or a permanent change. Either way, it is very convenient for now, as everything looks much cleaner. The spam keeps coming, though.

The pouring rain and Cinderella10.21.04

Did you know that the reason Cinderella’s name was Cinderella, was because she cleaned Cinder in the house? Most of us probably already know why Snow White was named that way. And no, she did not clean snow.

Almost all the radio stations seem to be affected negatively by the current rains; everyone seems to be “grouchy” about it. Everyone on the radio keeps complaining about how much is falling from the skies, and keeps talking about their longing for sunshine. We just had sunshine for over 6 months; we do not need any more sunshine. It is good to have dark skies over too. The rains are good to clean up the otherwise dirty cities; this rain will moist most of the dust particles out there, softening them so that they can get washed away with the heavy rains that are already on their way [hopefully they are]. We need clean cities that cannot be cleaned enough manually. With the rain, there is no need for car washes, no need to water your plants [sorry for the plants that drowned], no need to drive fast on the freeway thinking one is in Frankfurt, and no need to depend on the sun for all the happiness [you mean you are one of them....?].

Below is a picture of a girl taking cover from the rain.

Effect of media on the brain of a child - violence in question10.19.04

While driving on the freeway today, I was enjoying the beautiful rainy weather and saw a small graphic type graffiti on a truck that resembled a kid having a gun. That got me into thinking; would such images have any effect on kids who look at it? The current level of violence portrayed in the media in America is the highest in American history so far. Not only is violence being portrayed more graphically on many levels, violence is also being displayed humorously, which results in becoming desensitized to violence. What this means is that watching violence will not trigger the usual human response of being uncomfortable and to not being aroused in a negative manner by such violent depictions.

Standard memory that comes with new cameras is not enough….yet10.15.04

If you ever get a digital camera that comes with a memory stick that is anything less than what you want, buy the memory stick yourself. Taking over 200 pictures at a time with best quality modes is better than chunking out 9 pictures on a 16mb memory stick that will make you delete all the required pictures to make room for more.
